Notable News

Congratulations to the Bob Edwards School band, directed by Mr. Grunewald, who put on a fabulous performance yesterday evening for friends, family, and guests. The band consists of students from grades 7, 8, and 9 and as a group, they are a phenomenal group of young musicians!

Unexcused Absences – repeat message from last week

In recent weeks we have noticed an increase in student unexcused absences and lates to class. When students miss class time due to lates and absences it has a negative impact on their learning and ability to find success in their courses. Students who are late to class also disrupt the learning environment at times when arriving to class and in hallways where classrooms have begun instruction. Students who are late for multiple classes and have multiple unexcused absences may be sent home for the day to minimize disruption to learning environments in the school.

At Bob Edwards, we believe there is a strong positive correlation between attendance and success in learning. Our staff is here to support students with regular attendance, creating the conditions that help students engage with learning. Responses to student absences take into consideration each student’s context and individual needs, consistent with the continuum of supports and services provided for students.

Our CBE Student Code of Conduct and CBE Progressive Student Discipline regulations apply to all of our students. They outline the roles and expectations for our students to promote positive and inclusive learning environments, help students to develop empathy and become good citizens both within and outside of the school community, and explain the consequences when a student’s disruptive behaviour negatively affects the learning environment. We would encourage parents to review these regulations with their student.

Weather Reminders

We want to remind students to bring appropriate clothing with them to school each day. Students spend half of their lunch break outside, and some physical education classes happen outside as well.

Families are encouraged to review this checklist to be prepared for using transportation every school day and throughout the school year. Transportation Family Checklist

  • Please ensure your child is prepared with outdoor clothing and footwear for all weather conditions. How to Dress for the Weather Guide
  • All students enjoy 20 minutes of fresh air at lunch (weather permitting) and some physical education classes outside, and this time is much more enjoyable if they are dressed for the weather.
  • Students should not arrive at school before 8:40 a.m.
  • Supervision at Bob Edwards School is provided until 3:40 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1:10 p.m. Fridays, and all students must be picked up by these times.

PLEASE NOTE: Siblings are not permitted to wait for another sibling in an athletic practice or game, as no supervision is provided for siblings who are not engaged in a teacher-supervised activity.

Parking Reminders

  • Please do not park or drop off students in the bus zone between 7 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Please do not drop off or pick up your child from the staff parking lot.
  • Please always use the marked crosswalks. (No jaywalking)

Have a restful and restorative weekend!
