Individual Student Profile (ISPs)
In May and June of last year, Grade 6/9 students throughout the province wrote Provincial Achievement Tests. Preliminary results were shared with parents after the June PAT administration. Additionally, Individual Student Profiles (ISPs) are now available and have been mailed out to all current grade 7 students at Bob Edwards School. This profile is prepared by Alberta Education after the marking and scoring of tests has been completed and the final scores are calculated; it will present your child’s performance on each test in relation to provincial standards.
Athletics Updates
Please see the Athletics page of our school website for all Athletic Updates.
For all sports, please note that CBE middle schools have set similar expectations for games that promote safety, respect, and a positive experience for all. They include:
- All visiting student spectators/athletes must be under the direct supervision of a designated adult for the duration of the games.
- There are no in-and-out privileges for spectators. If you leave the building, you should not re-enter.
- Student cell phones must remain in bags. No photos or recordings can be made by students. This is a privacy concern for the athletes from all teams.
- Parents are asked to be mindful if they are taking photos or videos of their child. The privacy of other student-athletes should be considered.
- All spectators - students or adults - are expected to cheer and support players/coaches/referees/parents/guardians positively.
- Disrespectful behaviours will be addressed by the school administration promptly and may result in spectators being directed to leave the game and the school building.
- Parents/guardians who bring younger children are always responsible for their direct supervision. Please ensure that they are not wandering the halls and playing on equipment in the gym.
- These expectations have been reviewed with all our students in school. Please review with your student(s) as well. We thank you in advance for your ongoing support.
Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids
Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) is a non-profit organization that has worked for over 30 years to bring people together to ensure kids in our city have access to food. Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids provides sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, baked goods and snacks to care for kids. Weather Reminders
With cooler weather approaching – and a small taste of it this past week, we would like to remind students to bring appropriate winter clothing with them to school each day. Students spend half of their lunch break outside. The CBE weather guidelines allow for students to be outside in air temperatures equal to or warmer than -20C, or above -25C with the wind chill.
- Families are encouraged to review this checklist to be prepared for using transportation every school day and throughout the school year. Transportation Family Checklist
- This time of year means the regular transition between warm, cold, and rainy weather. Please help your student to come to school prepared for the weather.
- Please ensure your child is prepared with outdoor clothing and footwear for all weather conditions.
- All students enjoy 20 minutes of fresh air at lunch (weather permitting) and some physical education classes outside and this time is much more enjoyable if they are dressed for the weather.
Students should not arrive at school before 8:40 a.m.
Students must be picked up from school by 3:40 p.m.
PLEASE NOTE: Siblings are not permitted to wait for another sibling in an athletic practice or game as there is no supervision provided for siblings who are not engaged in a teacher-supervised activity.
Parking Reminders
- Please do not park or drop off students in front of the school in the bus zone between 7 a.m. – and 5:00 p.m.
- Please do not drop off or pick up your child from the staff parking lot.
- Please always use the marked crosswalks. (No jaywalking)
We look forward to another great week of teaching and learning!
Have a nice weekend,
Bob Edwards School
