Please Note | Student Pick Up Time from School

During the CUPE 40 Strike, students and staff must leave the school promptly at afternoon dismissal to allow for cleaning after school hours. Supervision at Bob Edwards School is provided until 3:40 p.m. daily and all students must be picked up by this time.

Please Note | Food Delivery Services

Please note that we cannot accommodate lunches for students being dropped off by food delivery services (Skip the Dishes, Uber Eats, Door Dash, etc.) in the main office. The driver will be asked to return the delivery to the restaurant. Thank you for not using food delivery services for your child.

An option that we do have is Healthy Hunger lunches that happen every Friday. As a bonus, participating in Healthy Hunger directly benefits our school programs. (Order for future dates here: https://healthyhunger.ca/) Upcoming Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches are March 7: Fat Burger; March 14: Coco Brooks Pizza. Many dates are also set up for the rest of the school year!

Social Media Concerns

We want to bring to your attention how social media use outside of school is affecting student relationships at Bob Edwards School. We have observed that many peer conflicts at school originate from interactions on Snapchat. We are seeing conflicts, misunderstandings, and social challenges that carry over into the classroom, impacting learning and peer interactions.

Snapchat’s disappearing messages make it difficult to monitor conversations, increasing risks such as exclusion, peer pressure, and exposure to inappropriate content. At this age, students are still developing the skills to navigate social media responsibly.

We encourage you to talk with your child about online safety, set clear expectations, and monitor their activity to ensure positive digital habits. Your support in fostering a respectful and inclusive environment is greatly appreciated.

Common Sense Media is a resource for parents and educators. Here is a Parents’ Guide to Snapchat.

If you have any questions, please contact our Student Services Learning Leader, Ms. McGarvey: kjmcgarvey@cbe.ab.ca

Looking Forward: Bob Edwards School Calendar, students and staff must leave the school promptly at afternoon dismissal to allow for cleaning after school hours

Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids provides sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, baked goods and snacks to care for kids. If your child requires access to a BB4CK lunch, please send an email in confidence to Ms. McGarvery, Student Services Learning Leader. kjmcgarvey@cbe.ab.ca

Weather Reminders

We want to remind students to bring appropriate winter clothing with them to school each day. Students spend half of their lunch break outside. The CBE weather guidelines allow for students to be outside in air temperatures equal to or warmer than -20C, or above -25C with the wind chill.

  • Families are encouraged to review this checklist to be prepared for using transportation every school day and throughout the school year. Transportation Family Checklist
  • Please ensure your child is prepared with outdoor clothing and footwear for all weather conditions. How to Dress for the Weather Guide
  • All students enjoy 20 minutes of fresh air at lunch (weather permitting) and some physical education classes outside and this time is much more enjoyable if they are dressed for the weather.
  • Students should not arrive at school before 8:40 a.m.
  • Students must be picked up from school by 3:40 p.m. There is no supervision provided outside of these times.

PLEASE NOTE: Siblings are not permitted to wait for another sibling in an athletic practice or game as there is no supervision provided for siblings who are not engaged in a teacher-supervised activity.

Parking Reminders

  • Please do not park or drop off students in the bus zone between 7 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Please do not drop off or pick up your child from the staff parking lot.
  • Please always use the marked crosswalks. (No jaywalking)

Have a nice weekend,

Bob Edwards School
