Oki, Danit'ada, Âba wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello, Bob Edwards Community,

We are getting the 2024-25 school year up and running! Bob Edwards School welcomes you and your children for the 2024-25 school year! Our teachers and staff are excited to get things underway and to have our students return on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
Here is some important information regarding School Start-Up:
· Our main office opens on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
· Homeroom teachers will be in contact with the families of their students via email before the end of the working day on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. We know that this is a matter of great excitement for our students, and we thank parents, guardians, and students for recognizing and understanding that classroom placements are made thoughtfully and considering student learning needs.
· At Bob Edwards School, we follow the CBE Traditional School Calendar. You can access our school-specific calendar here.
· Information specific to Back to School was posted to our website at the end of June: 2024-2025 Back To School Information.
· Students in Kindergarten through Grade 6 in the CBE (Calgary Board of Education) have all their school supplies purchased centrally. This is paid for through the Student Supply Fee that parents are charged at the beginning of each school year. The Student Supply Fee for Grade 6 students for the 2024-2025 school year is $40. Families do not need to purchase additional school supplies for their children. Students and families in Grades 7-9 are responsible for providing their school supplies. Homeroom teachers will provide a list of needed supplies to you by the end of the working day on August 28, 2024. These lists will contain all required supplies for the upcoming school year.
The first day of school is Thursday, August 29, 2024. Classes start at 8:55 a.m. Teachers will meet their students in a couple of locations starting at 8:40 a.m.
· Grade 6 students: Come to the main doors of the schools and go directly to the gym to meet your teachers.
· Grade 7 students: Meet your teachers outside in front of the school. (SW doors)
· Grade 8 students: Meet your teachers at the back compound (doors nearest the parking lot)
· Grade 9 students: Meet your teachers at the back compound (doors nearest the basketball and tennis courts)
· RISE students: Come to the main doors of the school where your teachers will greet you.
· We encourage all families to create a MyCBE/PowerSchool and ensure access to it before the school year begins. MyCBE/PowerSchool is the platform the CBE uses to share information with parents and guardians regarding their children. It is used to communicate attendance information from the school to home. It is also used to share student progress information (marks on assignments, tests, other tasks, report cards). This platform is also used to book Parent/Teacher Conferences. Finally, we also use it for fee payment purposes. By navigating there, you can also sign up for a MyCBE account if you do not currently have one. Instructions and a link to sign up for a MyCBE account can be found here: https://sis.cbe.ab.ca/public/c....
· Please pack a lunch and snacks every day. We no longer have a cafeteria that sells food. Grade 6 students will have their attendance taken at lunchtime and will have lunchroom supervision.
· Please read through our Away for the Day policy with your child so that you are aware of the expectations around devices for the school year.
· Teachers will take the time to cover the Student Handbook with students during the first week of school.
At Bob Edwards School, we are all eagles, no matter your grade or program. Bob Edwards School is an inclusive and positive place to learn and grow!
We look forward to seeing our students on Thursday, August 29, 2024, at 8:40 a.m.
