Hello Bob Edwards Families,

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks for your unwavering support of our community and dedicated teaching staff. As we navigate these uncertain times, I want to assure you that the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) will continue to keep you updated on the potential teacher strike scheduled for Monday, October 6, 2025.

In light of the potential strike, the CBE have made the difficult decision to cancel all sports, field trips, and other activities for October. This decision was not made lightly, and we understand the disappointment it may cause. Students will have access to D2L and Google Classroom throughout labour action. However, teachers will not have access and will not be monitoring, responding to or assessing student work during the strike.

I would also like to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to all our teachers who have generously volunteered their time since the beginning of September to coach various sports at our school. Our teachers' commitment and dedication to supporting our students have not gone unnoticed, and we deeply appreciate their efforts.

Thank you once again for your understanding and support. We will continue to provide you with updates as we receive more information. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

Looking Forward: Bob Edwards School Calendar

Opportunity

The Calgary Board of Education invites all parents and guardians to join a live online series on supporting child and youth well-being. The series is hosted by the Recovery Alberta Community Education Service (CES) Program in collaboration with local experts from the Calgary community.

Attached to this update is a poster with sessions designed to provide families with knowledge, tools, and strategies to help navigate the challenges and opportunities of raising children and teens today. Along with the poster, additional session details are available on the Child and Youth Family and Caregiver Series public-facing page.

Opportunity for French Immersion students

The United Bilingual Correspondents program, organized by French for the Future, connects French-speaking youth across Canada in grades 7 to 12 (or Secondary 1 to CEGEP 1 in Quebec). Participants are paired with a peer from another province to engage in regular French-language exchanges via email, social media, or video calls. Each month, the program provides themed conversation prompts to inspire discussions about Canadian Francophone cultures and personal interests. This initiative fosters language practice, cultural exploration, and the development of lasting friendships. Participation is free, and the program runs throughout the school year. Registration is open until October 7, 2025.

School Council and Parent Society

The October 28 School Council and Annual General Meeting is CANCELLED and will be rescheduled after Labour Action.
