Oki, Danit'ada, Âba wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello, Bob Edwards Community,

We hope you all had a fantastic first week of school!  We are thrilled to share that our current enrollment has reached approximately 562 students and continues to grow. It's wonderful to see so many eager faces ready to learn and thrive.

Contact your child’s teachers here: Our Staff. Your child’s homeroom teacher is the best first point of contact for any questions or concerns. Email is the preferred method of communication.

Next week, we will be implementing our restorative practices office referral program. Information was sent out to all families last week in the Eagles Week Ahead. This initiative aims to support the incredible work already being done at Bob Edwards to ensure the safety and culture of the school community. By focusing on restorative practices, we hope to create a more positive and collaborative environment for our students and staff. Please see below for more details about the process and how it aligns with our school's values and goals.

The office referral strategy form assists teachers with the behaviour management of the classroom and aligns with the school’s proactive strategies that are already (P.B.I.S, Zones of Regulation and Restorative Practices) in place at Bob Edwards.

The way the system works is as follows:

  1. Multiple attempts are made by the teacher to deal with the undesirable behaviour in the classroom by using proactive strategies.
  2. If undesirable behaviour(s) continue to happen, the teacher will complete the office referral form (purple card) and the student will be sent to the office to see the Principal or Assistant Principal (AP).
  3. The Principal or AP will meet with the student and will continue to use proactive strategies to resolve the concern or undesirable behaviour. The actions taken by the Principal or AP will be indicated on the back of the office referral form (purple card). If the student can fix the behaviour, he or she will be permitted to re-enter the classroom. The teacher will be notified by the Principal or AP of the actions taken.
  4. The office referral form (purple card) will be sent home with the student at the end of the day, and a parent and/or guardian must read and sign the back of the office referral form (purple card). The student is required to bring the form back to the school the next day and hand it in directly to the office. If the form is not returned, then a call to the parent and/or guardian is made by the school and could result in further action being taken by the Principal to support the student.
  5. If the student is unable to fix the behaviour or the actions of the student do not align with the CBE Code of Conduct, then a suspension could be issued by the Principal. In the event of a suspension, the parent and/or guardian will be contacted by the Principal directly, and no office referral form (purple card) will be sent home. The parents will receive a letter from the school indicating the details of the suspension. A suspension is always a “last resort” action, and we will always try to resolve the problem or undesirable behaviour at the school first.

The continual support of parents and/or guardians is needed to build a stronger sense of safety, optimism, pride and place for all learners here at Bob Edwards.

Homerooms/Classroom Configurations

We continue to experience growth here at Bob Edwards School. Organizing students into homerooms, exploratory classes, and physical education blocks is something that teachers and administrators began working on last school year. For new students, we also meet with feeder schools numerous times to gather as much information as possible to support students.

With this information, we strive to balance classrooms based on numerous factors (e.g., student needs, student connections, class dynamics, student behaviour, school logistical issues, and exploratory class space availability). Therefore, please note that we will not be making classroom changes except in exceptional circumstances until the end of October, when our enrolment numbers and budget will be finalized. We kindly ask for your support in helping your child understand and accept their assigned class list for the 2025–26 school year.

Forms, Forms, and More Forms!

The beginning of the school year means many forms to sign. The following forms are no longer available in hard copy and can be filled out on your SchoolEngage account. The deadline for form completion is September 15.

Please log on and complete as soon as possible so we have accurate records for our students.

  • Demographic Verification Form
  • Annual Authorization Form (combines the following forms: School District use of Personal Information; Consent for CBE Use of Student Information; Consent for use of Student Information by News Media and Outside Groups)
  • Citizenship Information Update Form

School Waivers

Bob Edwards School to be painted!

CBE Maintenance Services plans to start painting the interior of our school starting September 22, 2025. The hallways, library, gym, washrooms, staff room, office area, and interior and exterior doors will be given a fresh new look. It is anticipated that the project will take six to eight weeks to complete.

Proper maintenance of our school is necessary to provide a healthy and pleasant learning atmosphere. Most of the paint currently used in CBE schools is latex. Paints containing lead or mercury are never used in schools. Material Safety Data Sheets about the paints are available from the school upon request.

Instructional areas will not be occupied by students during painting and drying times. Ventilation systems are operated to prevent painting odours from being circulated in occupied areas. Additional fans are used to exhaust odours out of the building. Special low-odour paints are used throughout. In short, every effort is made to keep paint odours to a minimum.

The health and safety of all students is a primary consideration as the paint crews undertake this project. If you have concerns or questions about this planned painting project, please feel free to contact the school at (403) 777-7770. With the cooperation of parents, students, and CBE staff, this project will result in a bright, new look for Bob Edwards School. We hope that families will stop by when the project is complete to see the results.

CBE Bus Routes and Stops

We are seeking support from our parents/caregivers regarding bus behaviour so we can ensure a safe start to the school year for their children and all individuals on board. We ask that you have a conversation with your child about not moving from seat to seat, play fighting, swearing, yelling, getting on the assigned bus, and throwing food on the bus. This would be a great help to the bus drivers and again, will ensure the safety of all individuals on board.

Bus route, stop location and stop time information are available through MyCBE to registered students. The stop time provided is the time the bus leaves the stop. Please be at the stop at least five minutes before the scheduled departure time. Buses will not wait at or return to stops once they have left. CBE General Transportation

  • Families are encouraged to review this checklist to be prepared for using transportation every school day and throughout the school year. Transportation Family Checklist
  • Please ensure your child is prepared with outdoor clothing and footwear for all weather conditions.

Athletics Updates

Please see the Athletics page of our school website for all Athletic Updates.

For all athletics tryouts, please ensure that your child comes prepared with appropriate athletic attire, water, and a signed copy of the Annual Authorization for Athletic Tryout (you can check off all the sports you would want for your child to try out for the whole year- this way you will avoid signing multiple forms for multiple sports)

We encourage all interested students to participate, regardless of their experience level. It’s a great way for them to challenge themselves and be part of our school spirit!

Weather Reminders

This time of year means the regular transition between warm and cold weather. Please help your student come to school prepared for the weather over the next several weeks.

  • Please ensure your child is prepared with outdoor clothing and footwear for all weather conditions.
  • All students enjoy 20 minutes of fresh air at lunch (weather permitting) and some physical education classes outside, and this time is much more enjoyable if they are dressed for the weather.
  • Students should not arrive at school before 8:55 a.m. (Soft entry starts at 9:03 a.m.)
  • Students must be picked up from school by 4:00 p.m.

Parking Reminders

  • Please do not park or drop off students in front of the school in the bus zone between 7 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
  • Please do not drop off or pick up your child from the staff parking lot.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing everyone next week!
