Oki, Danit'ada, Âba wathtec, Tânisi, Taanishi, Bonjour, Hello, Bob Edwards Community,

Looking Forward: Bob Edwards School Calendar

Bob Edwards School staff and students are celebrating Treaty 7 Week right now, including several literacy and numeracy lessons to learn from and on this land we all call home. Completing this work not only aligns with our program expectations, but also the Truth and Reconciliation commitment our staff made, which is available on our school website on the About Us tab.  This year marks the 149th anniversary of the signing of Treaty 7 (also known as the Blackfoot Treaty).

Bob Edwards staff and students remain committed to honouring Indigenous ways of being, belonging, doing, and knowing throughout our school culture and curriculum. This year, we will implement wise practices from the Indigenous Education Holistic Lifelong Learning Framework to ensure school structures and processes are in place to effectively welcome and support all students and their families.

Guided by our core values of courage, growth, and respect, we will continue to design inclusive learning tasks and consistently apply continuums of support to implement wise practices with targeted literacy and math interventions for students who self-identify as Indigenous, while ensuring that learning supports positive identity and belonging for all students through intentionally chosen texts.

School Council and Parent Society

Bob Edwards School Council and Parent Society meet monthly (approximately) to build and strengthen our partnership, discuss student learning, and consult on decisions impactful to our school community. We meet in the Learning Commons at Bob Edwards School on the last Tuesday of most months at 6:00 p.m. Parents and guardians in our school community are welcome to join. The second School Council meeting of the 2026-27 school year (and Annual General Meeting – AGM) will be on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. The Bob Edwards School Council can be reached at bobeparentsfundraisingsociety@gmail.com

Please come and join this tremendous group with which we enjoy a strong partnership. You don’t need to sign up for any ‘big jobs’, and any member of our community is welcome to attend.

If you cannot join the meeting in person, you have the option of joining via Microsoft Teams: Join the meeting now

Healthy Hunger Fun Lunches!

School Council has organized fun lunches for Bob Edwards School through Healthy Hunger. Please order from the Healthy Hunger website. You can find the link on the School Council page of our school website.

Daily Go Mart

We have noticed an increased number of students going to the Daily Go Mart located at #6 4100 Marlborough Drive NE during the lunch break. Please note that there is no supervision provided to students (grades 7, 8, 9) who choose to leave the school campus. Please speak to your children about appropriate, neighbourly behaviour in the community. We have received complaints from the Daily Go Mart about destructive behaviour in the store and alleged shoplifting. The Calgary Police Service is aware of these complaints. If students are caught shoplifting or destroying property, CPS will ticket students.

Grade 6 students are not allowed to leave the school property for the duration of the school day unless they are signed out of the office by a parent or guardian.

Athletics Updates

Please see the Athletics page of our school website for all Athletic Updates. The Physical Education teachers have also put together a Physical Education website, available here.

Parking Reminders

  • Do not enter school bus loading zones. Stop or park in designated zones only so buses can safely pull into their designated space. Thank you for keeping our students safe!
  • Watch for school buses. They have big blind spots, poor maneuverability and need lots of space to move.
  • Please do not drop off or pick up your child from the staff parking lot. Staff arrive throughout the morning, and dropping students off in the staff parking lot is unsafe given the limited space. Our parking lot is full this year, and visitor parking is only on the street. Thank you.

Weather Reminders

This time of year means the regular transition between warm, cold, and rainy weather. Each day students engage in various outdoor learning activities including journaling, physical education, recess and other opportunities to learn from the land.

  • Please ensure your child is prepared with outdoor clothing and footwear for all weather conditions. This includes sweaters, rain jackets, mittens, hats, snow pants and boots when necessary. Here is a great reference sheet to help your student plan accordingly to learn outside.
  • Families are encouraged to review this checklist to be prepared for using transportation every school day and throughout the school year. Transportation Family Checklist
  • Students should not arrive at school before 8:55 a.m. (Soft entry starts at 9:03 a.m.)
  • Students must be picked up from school by 4:00 p.m.

Have a wonderful weekend!
