Action Required | Complete Online Forms

Each year, schools have a variety of forms that parents/legal guardians must complete or review and update, some of which are paper and others online. In CBE (Calgary Board of Education), the forms in an online format (SchoolEngage) are:

• Demographic Verification - 2023-24 – This form includes your child’s personal information as well as parent / legal guardian contact information.

• Citizenship Information Update - 2023-24 – This form becomes available if you change your child’s citizenship information on the Demographic Verification form.

• Annual Authorization - 2023-24 – This form provides consent for school and district use of personal information.

SchoolEngage is one of the applications found in your MyCBE account. This is the same account that you use to pay fees, view academic information, book school conferences, etc.

If you do not have a MyCBE account, on the MyCBE page click on Create a MyCBE Account. For online help refer to MyCBE - Creating an Account (includes instructions and a video).

To complete these forms:

1 | sign into your MyCBE account

2 | click on the SchoolEngage icon

3 | select the form

4 | complete or review and update the form

5 | click on Submit to send the form electronically to the school

6 | repeat steps 3-5 for each form

Please submit the Demographic Verification and Annual Authorization forms in SchoolEngage for your child as soon as possible. 

School Council and Parent Society

Bob Edwards School and the School Council and Parent Society meet monthly (approximately) to build and strengthen our partnership, discuss student learning, and consult on decisions impactful to our school community. We meet in the Learning Commons at Bob Edwards School on the last Tuesday of most months at 6:30 PM. Parents and guardians in our school community are welcome to join. The first School Council meeting of the 2023-24 school year will be on Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at 6:30 PM. Meet: Monday, September 25, from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. at Confederation Park, 3009 10 St NW, a bus will be provided which will depart from Bob Edwards at 3:30 p.m. and drop the students back off at Bob Edwards by 5:45 p.m.

Basketball

The season is starting for our basketball teams this week. A parent letter and student Acknowledgment of Risk form will be sent home with players on Monday. Please sign and return this form no later than Tuesday, September 26.

French for Parents – Level 1

Chinook Learning Services offers courses specifically designed for parents and caregivers of CBE French Immersion students. For Fall 2023, Chinook Learning Services is once again offering French for Parents – Level 1 classes. This eight-week course will help parents of bilingual students learn or refresh their French language skills, build their network of bilingual parents, and support their children’s learning at home.

Weather Reminders

• Please ensure your child is prepared for all weather conditions with outdoor clothing and footwear.
• All students enjoy 20 minutes of fresh air at lunch and some physical education classes outside and this time is much more enjoyable if they are dressed for the weather.
• With hot weather, please make sure your student comes to school with a water bottle and sun hat.
• Students should not arrive at school prior to 8:40 am
• Students should be picked up from school by 3:40 pm (There is no supervision outside of these times.)

Student pick-up and drop-off procedures

As a school, we thank you for your support in ensuring a safe environment for our students to come and go from school daily. We have close to 500 students who are trying to make their way home safely each day and for that reason, we do not permit drop-off and pick-up in the bus zone in front of the school. If you have another trusted adult meet your child after school, we ask that you remind them of this practice. Thank you for your care and attention to this in support of our students! Also, please remind your students to use the crosswalks for safe crossing of Marlborough Drive.
