Wednesday, November 8, 2023 – Remembrance Day Assemblies

We would like to extend an invitation to all parents and guardians to join us for our Remembrance Day Assembly. There will be two assemblies:

Grades 7 and 9: 9:00 AM

Grades 6 and 8: 9:45 AM

The assemblies will be held in the gymnasium, and we encourage parents to arrive a few minutes early to ensure a timely start. Our students have put in tremendous effort to prepare meaningful and respectful presentations, including songs, speeches, and poetry to commemorate Remembrance Day.

Booking School Conferences is now available online through your MyCBE-PowerSchool parent account.

School Conferences will be in-person conferences on Thursday, November 23, 2023, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Friday, November 24, 2023, from 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Bob Edwards School; 4424 Marlborough Dr. NE Calgary AB T2A 2Z5.

Weather permitting; Calgary Food Trucks will be on site on Thursday evening!

Marlborough Community Association Event List

School Council and Parent Society

Bob Edwards School and the School Council and Parent Society meet monthly (approximately) to build and strengthen our partnership, discuss student learning, and consult on decisions impactful to our school community. We meet in the Learning Commons at Bob Edwards School on the second last Tuesday of most months at 6:30 P.M. Parents and guardians in our school community are welcome to join. The third School Council meeting of the 2023-24 school year will be on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at 6:30 PM. Jacket Racket

Jacket Racket has been providing clean, gently used winter jackets to Calgary Children since the 1980s. The project runs every year from mid-October to mid-November. Coats, snow pants, hats and mittens are collected, sorted and distributed by a group of dedicated volunteers. The distribution is done through the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District.

If your child needs a jacket, please send an email in confidence to Camille Haggar, Assistant Principal, with their full name and clothing size by Tuesday, November 21, 2023. cmhaggar@cbe.ab.ca

Athletics Updates

Please see the Athletics page of our school website for all Athletic Updates.

Reminders:

A parent or guardian must supervise student spectators at all athletics events.

All students require proper footwear for physical education classes. Crocs, slides, and flip-flops are not safe to wear when engaging in sports. Also, please dress for the weather. Physical education classes are still happening outdoors this fall.

Weather Reminders

• Please ensure your child is prepared with outdoor clothing and footwear for all weather conditions.
• All students enjoy 20 minutes of fresh air at lunch and some physical education classes outside and this time is much more enjoyable if they are dressed for the weather.
• Students should not arrive at school before 8:40 am
• Students should be picked up from school by 3:40 pm (There is no supervision outside of these times.)

Student pick-up and drop-off procedures

As a school, we thank you for your support in ensuring a safe environment for our students to come and go from school daily. We have close to 500 students who are trying to make their way and for that reason, we do not permit drop-off and pick-up in the bus zone in front of the school. If you have another trusted adult dropping off or meeting your child after school, we ask that you remind them of this practice. Thank you for your care and attention to this in support of our students! Also, please remind your students to use the crosswalks for safe crossing of Marlborough Drive.
